Celebrating 80 years life!

Happy birthday Grandma!!! Grandma turned 80 on Sunday and I was able to spend the afternoon with her! Up until 5 yrs. ago my grandma worked at the country club and led a full life! She was an amazing, strong, independent, vibrant, classy, wonderful woman! She has a heart as big as Texas and would give the shirt off of her back! That all changed with one flu shot and she has NEVER been the same! We have been through it with this woman ever since! Depression is a horrible thing! Her mind may have changed, but her heart is still the same! I have wonderful memories! Grandma was placed in a private home about 6 months ago. It's a comfortable, peaceful environment for her with around the clock care. Sunday was a good day! Our visit was good! She smiled and I actually heard her laugh and tell a FUNNY story! Her story went like this...."Miss Anna dropped her napkin at the dinner table one night this week. She leaned over to pick it up off the floor and Edith blew her nose at just the right time! There was an explosive sound and Miss Anna thought it came from her! She said it was the funniest thing that has happened since she moved there and she was the only "sane" one that got to enjoy the laugh!" Laughter is GOOD and it was so GOOD to hear it coming from my grandma again!
I love you Grandma!
We had cake and ice cream with the Golden Girls! These are the sweet ladies that my grandma shares a home with! It really reminds me of the Golden Girl show! I asked them to do silly faces and only Geanie participated! I also asked if they wanted to play chickenfoot with me...
no volunteers!
Aunt Freida discovered the lift chair! She was our entertainment! I definitely take after my Aunt Freida! My silliness is from her! She is to blame!

Grandma with some of her grandkids! Grandma is my only living grandparent now!

Mom, Grandma and Uncle Time...hangin out!

We do the best we can to entertain ourselves while visiting!

Silliness happens in the land of walkers, dentures, depends, potty chairs, medication, blood pressure cuffs, mushed up food, wheelchairs, and hearing aids!!!!
Someone recently didn't know I had a brother. Sorry Coy! I guess I always talk about Lisa and not Coy! Well...here he is! Isn't he cute?
He's single and I'm looking for a wonderful, cute, adorable, nice, amazing sister-n-law!!!
Does anyone have any suggestions?

The Dash

I visited with Michelle at the Int. school last week and she shared The Dash with me. After the recent death of my Granny and celebrating 80 yrs. of life with my Grandma this weekend, I've been thinking a lot about my "dash". I'm going to share it with you and I hope it's as inspiring to you as it has been to me! Thanks Michelle!
The Dash
by Linda Ellis
I read of a man who stood to speak
at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end.
He noted that first came the date of her birth
and spoke of the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own,
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard,
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
That can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect
And more often wear a smile,
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.
So when your eulogy is being read
With your life's actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?
I just love this! It definitely got me to thinking! So girls...how about your "dash"?

Laundry!!!

Do you like my cute, new sign that hangs in my cozy laundry corner?
It has some attitude, huh?
Well... in spite of what it says...someone did laundry ALL DAY! My family is sooo spoiled! They always have clean clothes! They laughed at my sign when I brought it home from Hobby Lobby! I know their maid personally! She is one awesome maid ! Gotta love her!
What did you do on this terrific Tuesday?

A trip of a lifetime...

Disney World...here we come!!!!! OK, OK, OK....here THEY come!!!!

I'm so jealous!!!

Oh look... it's Cinderella's castle!

Downtown Disney!

Deborah, Logan, Garet and Whitney enjoying a day at Universal! Well, I guess they were enjoying their day. But, what do I know? I wasn't there!

What a great trip for these boys!

The sword in the stone!

In Downtown Disney there was a Lego store! Everything was made out of legos! This was one of Garet's favorite parts of the trip! He goes all the way to Florida and buys MORE Legos! Go figure! This dinosaur is ALL LEGOS!

I would love to take my boys to Legoland in Cali. Anyone ever been?

Epcot!!!

Universal Studios! Something stinks!

Jurassic Park!!! You all look alittle to mellow to be in such danger!

Look out Deborah!!!

Huh? I thought you guys went to Florida, not Margaritaville!
It looks like Logan has had one to many!

The view from the condo ! How nice!

Oh my... this chick taught Garet how to boogy board!

The Robinson's were able to visit family while they were away! Garet met new friends! Sure looks like they had a great time!
Garet, I told you to look out for sharks...not play with them!

We have hidden talents here at the Rose household! We are great Elvis impersonators! I clean house to Elvis!!! OK... someone buy Logan a pair of sunglasses! Cracks me up! Too bright? No problem! He just closes his eyes!
On the road again! I just can't wait to get on the road again!

PLEASE HELP!!! How do you thank sweet friends for taking your son on a trip of a lifetime? They have been so gracious! They spoiled him rotten for two weeks and I would really love to do something special for them! Any suggestions?

Garet's home!

Garet made it home!!! The Robinson's dropped him off during the night Tues. night! I'm so thankful that he had this HUGE experience, but I am so glad to have my boy home...safe and sound! We will have to do a Disney World post! I can't wait to see all of the pics myself!

Sweet Summertime!!!!

Hip Hip Hooray!!! Tyler came to play!!!

Popsicles!!!
So cute!!!
There's nothing like yummy chicken salad, Carrie's cocktails with Crystal Lite, fun fellowship and lots of laughter! Don't you just love spending summer days with good company?
After afew hours of visiting, we decide to load the boys up and go for ice cream at McDonald's! We pull up to order and they are out of cones...
"What the heck!!! McDonald's is out of ice cream cones? Go figure!!!"
I scream...you scream...we all scream for ice cream!!!! Literally folks!!!

Denise's mini is sooo stylin she has a "special" eject button in it! It ejects screamin children to the moon! Hey...it works!!! You should try it! We had to threaten several children on our adventurous trip to get ice cream !

"Thank you Lord for this day and thank you for our cones!"

Finally....ice cream! Everyone is much better now! Thanks DQ!!!

Restored ~ Camp 220

GAMMA 2 ROCKS!
Yes...that is me on the bottom right! I'm participating in wet-n-wackie Wed.!
Although I did not do this.....
let people pretend I'm a "human hot dog" like Charlie,

take a swim in wet dog food like these crazies,

run through chocolate syrup like Delaney Dean,

or stick my face in marshmallow cream like Cory!

I'm too old for this CRAP!!!

GHETTO!!!!

I had sixty babysitters this week! Everytime I turned around Peyton was with someone else and eating ice cream! Gracie and Tommy are his favorites!

Peyton made fast friends with Jadon! They played together everyday! Jadon is helping his dad, John Sherrill, get the sound ready for Rec Rally! For those of you who have followed The Sherrill story, Baby Kyle's summer is packed with 220 camps! Talk about bringing tears of joy to my eyes! Just seeing Kelly toting Kyle around with his little oxygen tank is AMAZING! He is a chunk! I can't wait to see what the Lord is going to do in that little boy's life!

This past week The Rose family went to Camp! Yes, it was a family affair. Auburn, Peyton and I headed to Waxahachi for student leadership week ~ Camp 220. It has been 15 years since I have been to any kind of camp! Inspite of being sleep deprived, HOT and 16 hour non stop days...I made it! I don't even have words to describe the week that I just witnessed! I do believe that it was a little piece of heaven here on earth! The theme for this week was...RESTORED! Wow... we all need a little restoration! We are living in a very broken world that needs the Lord's restoration! God desires to heal homes, marriages, ministries, families, churches and individuals! In order for restoration to take place, we must be BROKEN! We must ask God to show us what grieves him!
Here's just afew questions to get you to thinkin...
"What does a life restored look like?"
"What does walking in healing look like...act like...smell like?"
"What wounds do I carry daily that keep me from being close to Christ?"
Restoration is a process. I went to camp as a small group leader and I think that I learned far more from my group than they learned from me! We must die to ourselves daily! Christ wants more of us! Far more than we give!
I feel renewed and in better condition than when I left last week and I'm so thankful!
God is really blessing John and Kelly Sherrill and their ministry!
visit them http://www.twotwenty.org/ Pray for them! Buy his new release! It's awesome!
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.
Gal. 2:20

My precious silhouette's!!!

I finally finished something! This is a project that my sister and I started when I was visiting her afew weeks ago! Life got in the way and I have sooo many projects that I need to finish! I absolutely LOVE the way my silhouette's turned out! I can't get over how much they actually look like Garet and Peyton! This project cost less than $15 and I will treasure them forever!
Happy crafting!

Off to Disney World....

Garet couldn't sleep Thursday night. He was sooo excited! He got up at 4:00 and laid in the living room floor...waiting!!!
In the midst of all of the craziness this week, Garet left yesterday for Disneyworld!!!
Logan and his sweet family asked him to join them on their big trip this summer! The Robinson's are like his second family! So, we accepted their invitation! Garet has been beyond excited! He will be gone for 15 days! Four days at Disney, six days in a beach cottage in Panama City and visiting family in Alabama on the way home!
Load em up and move em out!!!!

Wow!! It's early! It's back to bed for me! I hope Jud and Debra plan on opening their eyes! They have a LONG road trip ahead of them! For the record...I do believe this is the first time in the 8 yrs. that I've known Debra and she DOES NOT have on high heels!
Be safe! Love yall!

These were my instructions to Garet Thursday night!

Mind your manners!
Don't pick your nose!
Brush your teeth!
Don't forget about your deodorant!
Don't ever go in a public bathroom by yourself!
No bodily noises in front of the ladies...no tooting and burping!
Don't forget to say please, excuse me, thank you, yes mama, no mama, yes sir, no sir! ( I guess that falls under manners!)
Don't forget to say your prayers!
Spend all of your money wisely! Don't come home with a U~Haul full of souvenirs!
Drink lots of water...it's going to be hot!
Don't, under any circumstance, take off your seatbelt!
Wash your hand 10,000 times a day and carry your Germex in your pocket! (You are going to be in lots of public places! Yuck!!)
Take your vitamins everyday!
Do you know your phone #, my cell, dad's cell, mimi's #?
What is your address, ssn, and blood type?
If you get lost or separated from The Robinson's, what do you do?
If a stranger grabs you, yell "This is not my mom or dad!" LOUDLY!!! (To where I can hear you!)
Don't forget your sunscreen!
Watch out for sharks and jellyfish!
Don't go to far out into the ocean! The tide will suck you under!
Don't forget to brush your hair.
Ohhhh......by the way.... have TONS OF FUN and I LOVE YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!

Garet said, " You have me really freaked out now Mom!)

What do you think Moms out there? Did I forget anything because I can call him right away!

Good~Bye for now Granny...

My sweet Granny, Jannie Miller, took a little trip to heaven today. This is my dad's mom. She was 80 years old and not in very good health. She has been in the nursing home for several years now. This was expected and I was able to kiss her and tell her good~bye on Tues. It's just good~bye for now. It's only temporary! We are only passing through! This world is not my home! This has been a really hard 6 months for my family. We will ALL be together this weekend! Please pray for us! Please pray for peace among my family! There is lots of anger, bitterness and hurt feelings and we need all of the prayers we can get!
It's about Granny this weekend!

"Treats for Troops"

God Bless America
"America the beautiful"
May it always stay that way~
But to keep "Old Glory" flying
There's a price that we must pay...
For everything worth having
Demands work and sacrifice,
And freedom is a gift from God
that commands the highest price...
For all our wealth and progress
Are as worthless as can be
Without the faith that made us great
And kept our country free...
Nor can our nation hope to live
Unto itself alone,
For the problems of our neighbors
Must today become our own...
And while it's hard to understand
The complexities of war,
Each one of us must realize
That we are fighting for
The principles of freedom
And the decency of man,
And as a Christian nation
We're committed to God's Plan...
And as the Land of Liberty
And a great God-fearing nation
We must protect our honor
And fulfill our obligation...
So in these times of crisis
Let us offer no resistance
In giving help to those who need
Our strength and our assistance ~
And " The Stars and Stripes Forever"
Will remain a symbol of
A rich and mighty nation
Built on Faith and Truth and Love.
The ladies of our church came together for "treats for troops". This is a project where we have been collecting items for soldier's as a church and we boxed everything up and we are shipping them all over the world! We were able to do 26 boxes! We had such a good response that we may start doing this every quarter! Sometimes I think it is so easy for us to forget that we ARE still at war! We live such comfortable lives, but there are men and women putting their lives on the line everyday for US! We simply can not forget about them!

Jill Yeager won the social mixer! Imagine that! She's one social gal!

This is my Peyton! He is a "ladies man" and he is only 4! It's kinda scary! He sang a special song for the ladies all by himself!
Red, white and blue.
Red, white and blue.
Colors on the flag.
Colors on the flag.
Flying so high.
Flying so high.
In the sky.
In the sky.

Starring.... Charli Andrews! This girl can sing, sing, sing!

Hot mama's packing hot sauce!!! JK
This is Crystal and she has a huge servant's heart! She has helped me tons with this project! Thanks Crystal!

Look at all of those CUTE ladies!
We have extra boxes ready and waiting! If you have a special soldier you would like to send a package to...please emial me!
If you put your mind to it... you CAN make a difference!

Working hard boxing up goodies for the soldiers!

Jana taught the ladies how to make their very own beaded key chain! Thanks Jana!

We brought salads to our social and I found this delicious recipe and wanted to share it with you! It would be great for a July 4th picnic! It was a big hit with the ladies, but I can't take all of the credit! Thanks Paula Deen!
Paula Deen's Corn Salad
2 (15oz.) cans whole corn, drained ~ I used 3 b/c I needed to make more
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1 cup mayo
1 cup chopped grn. peppers
1/2 cup chopped red onion
1 (10 1/2 oz.) bag Fritos chili cheese chips, coarsely chopped

Mix first 5 ingredients and chill. Stir in Fritos right before you serve.
This recipe is very similar to my favorite corn dip, but the Fritos give it a different texture and it becomes a salad! It's soooo good!
