Fishin On Memorial Day!

On Memorial Day we took the boys out to Terry and Laura Dean's to go fishing! It was a fun time! I decided to actually fish. I have boys! I'm going to have to learn to like these outdoor sports! What does it mean when you can't move your arm for two days after fishing? Peyton was VERY interested at first!

After getting his fishing hook hung up for the 100th time...he gave up and decided to make friends with the bait!

It sure was hot!!! Next time we will have to start earlier!

Garet was the first to catch a fish!

YES...I even fished AND I caught something! OK...So, it's little, but it's something! (Yikes! I look really "butchy" in this pic! Not very girly at all! Oh well...I guess I look the part!)

Here fishy, fishy, fishy!!! (Just kidding!)
Every fisherman needs a break!

Not pictured....Auburn caught a HUGE bass! I saw it flippin around out there! His fishing pole was bent and he was having to use his muscles to reel that sucker in and all of the sudden it was gone! It broke his line and swam away, hook and all! Gotta hate it when that happens!

Hope your Memorial day was safe and happy! Thank you to those who serve unselfishly every day for my freedom!

Wrappin up the school year!!!

PC doesn't wear underwear!!!

Introducing.... The Crackheads!!! There sure were alot of them tonight! RaRa, so glad you joined us tonight!
Miss Statue of Liberty!

April was the lucky winner tonight! She even won a roll off with a bunco!
Go April!

Never fear... the under~girls are here!!!! We had an extra prize tonight, so anyone who came with undergarments on the outside was able to put their name in a drawing! These were the brave girls! We will do anything for a prize!!!! Auburn's underwear did NOT help me look skinny, but we sure had fun!

April and Denise setting a new trend! I think something was REALLY funny!

I absolutely LOVE bunco night!!!!! I seriously think I will be playing this game when I'm 80 years old! (And chickenfoot! Maybe I'm an old lady stuck in a 34 year old body!)

Snickerdoodles means Summertime!

I have been busy making snickerdoodles for Peyton's "end of the year" school party! I'm in charge of the cookie walk! I decided on my all time favorite... Snickerdoodles!
Snickdoodles
1 cup Crisco shortening
1 1/2 cups plus 2 T. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 sifted all-purpose flour
2 t. cream of tartar
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
2 t. ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar, and eggs. Sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Combine with egg mixture. Chill dough thoroughly and then roll into balls the size of a small walnut. ( I use a small melon scooper!) Roll in mixture of
2 T. sugar and the cinnamon. Bake for 8-10 minutes on a ungreased baking sheet until lightly browned but still soft. ( Don't overbake. If you do, place cookies in a ziplock bag with a piece of bread and they turn soft again! It's magic! I learned that from my mother-n-law...Dorothy)
Yum! Yum!
Why do they call them Snickerdoodles?
I have very fond memories of snickerdoodles from my childhood! Thanks Mom and Mrs. Burnett!
You would definitely be snickering if you could see how many of these I've eaten! Not counting points today! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Happy Mother's Day!

My Mother's Day started with two cute boys and a wonderful husband bringing me breakfast in bed! Snowflake donuts and coffee that was as thick as oil! What more could a woman ask for?
The weather was gorgeous on Mother's Day! Beautiful blue skies, but VERY windy! Great kite flyin weather! Garet got that kite WAY up there!

Mom and I couldn't figure out what Peyton was doing out in the pasture! He looked like Forrest Gump doing his Elvis dance! What in the world?....

Peyton decided he would chase the kite's shadow around all afternoon!

He slept well that night!

What a beautiful day!

Amber Alert!

OK... It's not Amber! It was Garet!
I had a very scary Mom moment yesterday. I hope I don't have another moment like this for a long time! You may ask, " Why is Carrie posting this?" I'm posting this because I believe that bad things can happen very FAST! I believe that we can't be to careful in this world that we live in today! I don't think we should freak out, but just be AWARE!
After school yesterday I was busy in the kitchen. I had about 10 things going at once. I was preparing hamburgers for about 25 people. Garet came in and said he was going to Andrew's to see if he could play. I said , "It doesn't look like anyone is home, but you can go see!" Garet has two little best friends that he plays with daily. They live across the street. We have lived in this house for four years and the kids are very close! They would play 24/7 if they could. It's not unusual to have 10 kids playing on our corner! It's a very busy place! I've never worried about Garet playing between the three houses. Between us, The Dukes and The Spillars... I know someone is watching. We have never had any issues. I know that I can look out the window and SEE the boys! Yesterday was different. It was VERY QUIET! It didn't look like anyone was home from school and work yet. BUT, boys can be hard~headed and Garet had to see for himself. I got busy and didn't realize he didn't come back home! I got ready to run an errand and I started calling for him. Nothing. Silence. Very Quiet. I walked to the end of the driveway and screamed louder. Nothing. I didn't panic yet! I thought maybe he had come back inside and was in his room playing his games. (Funny to think I would loose my children in this tiny house!) He wasn't here! I walked to the Dukes and started bangin on their door. Nothing! I walked to the Spillars and did the same! Nothing! I ran to the shed and his bike was gone! I started to panic at this point! Garet isn't allowed to ride in the street because we live on a very busy corner. I knew he wouldn't go off on his bike. I got into the car and drove up and down the rode... honking and screaming! Bad thoughts started to enter my little head. Panic mode was setting in! I couldn't breath. I couldn't feel my arms and legs! Auburn was on his way home from work. I called to tell him that I had lost our son! He told me to hang up and call the sheriff. Yes... the police! I was freakin! I was running down the street screaming like a fruitloop! I finally heard his voice! I can't describe the relief I felt! I was screaming, crying, thanking Jesus and cussing!!!!! He had taken it upon himself to visit a friend down the rode (out of his play territory) without letting me know! I don't even know the kid! Didn't know that he lived there! SCARY!!!!! When I got back home, the troops had been called in! Within 5 minutes, members of our church staff were pulling into my driveway! They had dropped EVERYTHING and come running! I love my church! I love my church staff! I love my christian friends! I love the body of Christ! JD kept me from killing Garet and he received afew lectures! Thank you Jesus for happy endings!

Did you know that my little town has 7 sex offenders within 1 mile of my house? When I researched this I discovered that I knew one of these men and didn't know that one piece of info. about him! Our world is sick and there are sick people out there that prey on little children! I was thinking of these sick people the whole 20 minutes I was searching for Garet! I'm not posting this to freak you out. I posting this to inform you! Do you know who your neighbors are? Do you know who your kids play with and who their parents are?
Visit http://www.familywatchdog.com/ and put in your zip code! It shows you their pictures, where they live, etc. Do your research moms! Keep your kids safe! Sorry for the long post! Just felt I had to share!

Auburn plays ball with a Prison Ministry team!

Nice sunglasses Grammy Rose! Grammy spent her birthday watching Auburn play ball!

My guys! Peyton loves the ball field! He watched several games today and cheered his daddy on!

It is now 10:30 and Auburn has been playing in a tournament here in Madisonville since 8:00 this morning! I guess they are still winning! Way to go guys! Off to bed for me!

Look who turned 65 today!

Happy birthday Grammy Rose! We love you so much! (This woman is a living, breathing MIRACLE!) You could truly learn alot about life from Dorothy Rose!

My Little Veteranarian... Dr. Peyton Rose

Peyton's preschool graduation was Fri. night! The kids dressed up as teachers, Doctors, Dentists, vets, cowboys, astronauts, firefighters, policemen, construction workers!!! All of the people who make our world turn! Peyton ... we love you! You can be anybody that you want to be!
Peyton was a vet! We love the sound of Dr. Rose!!!

Rock Solid

Life sometimes gets very interesting! It's easy to get lost in the backwoods when we are dealing with twists and turns on our trail in life! The great thing is that God will walk with us through this life and forever, leading and guiding us, if we let him! So... stay on the right path hikers!
We are so proud of you Garet! You never cease to amaze us!
Logan, Park Ranger David and Garet

Garet was the jokester of the group!

Here are just afew of his jokes...

What do you call a goat that lives on a mountain? ... A hillbilly!

Why can't you talk to a goat? ... Cause the keep butting in!

Why do goats wear bells around their necks? ... Cause their horns don't work!

What do you call a cow lying down? ... Ground beef!

What do you call a cow that's just had a baby? ... Decaffeinated!

One very busy week!

AWANA and cubby awards night! The boys worked so hard learning God's word this year!
So exciting!!! Do you like our shabby hair and Big Red mustache?

Peyton got to ride in a real, live race car! He did donuts at a high speed around the church parking lot! He got out and just kept saying...."That was awesome!" Before his ride, he accidentally spilt Big Red in his crouch! Not many people witnessed this! After his ride, the race car driver thought he peed his pants from all of the excitement! It was very comical!

I think we will be talking about this party for a LONG time!!

A very cool birthday party at the firestation! Happy birthday Lane!

Just afew of our activities!!! I've come to the conclusion that I will just have to rest in 18 years!

Happy Mother's Day 2008

To My Child
I gave you life, but cannot live it for you.
I can teach you things, but I cannot make you learn.
I can give you direction, but I cannot be there to lead you.
I can allow you freedom, but I cannot account for it.
I can take you to Church, but I cannot make you believe.
I can teach you right from wrong, but I cannot always decide for you.
I can buy you beautiful clothes, but I cannot make you beautiful inside.
I can offer you advice, but I cannot take it for you.
I can give you love, but I cannot force it upon you.
I can teach you respect, but I cannot force you to show honor.
I can advise you about sex, but I cannot make you pure.
I can tell you about the facts of life, but I cannot build your reputation.
I can tell you about lofty goals, but I cannot achieve them for you.
I can tell you about drugs, but I cannot say NO for you.
I can teach you about kindness, but I cannot force you to be gracious.
I can warn you about sins, but I cannot make your morals.
I can love you as a child, but I cannot make your place in God's family.
I can pray for you, but I cannot make you walk with God.
I can teach you about Jesus, but I cannot make Jesus you Lord.
I can tell you how to live, but I cannot give you Eternal Life.
I found this wonderful little poem and wanted to share it with you in honor of Mother's Day! Happy Mother's Day to ALL of the wonderful Mom's in my life!
My Mother-N-Law, Dorothy, spent the week with us. Yesterday, she looked at me and said, "Carrie, you are such a good mom to Garet and Peyton." She was so sincere and her compliment meant the world to my! I'm not perfect and I learn new things about being a mom everyday! BUT, I LOVE being a MOM and I LOVE my boys more than life!

Who says Yard Sales aren't fun????

Well...... April, LeighAnn, Kathy, Dana and I have been hanging out for three days doing our yard sale! We have gone through all closets, drawers, garages, sheds, toy boxes, etc. We have sweated! We have froze! ( Nice Texas weather!) We have panicked about rain clouds! We have lost sleep! We have worked our buns off, BUT... it was all worth it! It was the best yard sale I've ever had! And we had fun while we worked!
I have to share a funny story..... Friday morning my "helpers" were tied up elsewhere! (Thanks alot girls!) It was looking like it was going to pour down, so we decided to just open up later that afternoon. Whenever we were all available to cover things in case it rained! I looked out my window and there were people UNDER the tarps! No kidding! You know how those serious yard salers are! So... I decided to tackle this task on my own! I opened up and it was crazy busy for hours! At one point I looked up and the "special people" bus stopped and 20 "special people" got off!!!! I thought "Oh dear Jesus... HELP ME!!!" (If you live here in Madisonville, it's the green and white striped bus!) They were all so precious and I enjoyed them so much! You just have to picture ME helping all of these special people at ONCE! Do you picture this? They all had their money out and they were ready to shop! One left with a toiletry bag over his shoulder! One left with a snowglobe of Houston, Tx.! One wanted to buy my Dish Satellite! One cute lady left with a hat on her head that once hung on my grandma's wall as a decoration!
OH HAPPY DAY!!!
This poor 1970's Santa wreath won the UGLY award at our sale! His poor nose got knocked off! He is now on top of the garbage can waiting to meet the garbage man Monday!

Poor Santa!

Look at these fruit loops! What was I thinking asking these girls to help me? ( Dana and Kathy having a good old time!)

Taking a lunch brake!

Look what I bought with my yard sale money!!!! All of the hard work "payed" off!!! Lots and lots of mullah!!!
I hope we have motivated you! When is your next yard sale?
